(Nov. 19, 2020) Worcester County Arts Council is conducting an online auction until Dec. 12 to raise funds for its arts scholarship program.
“We are hoping to raise about $2,000 from the auction,” said Anna Mullis, the executive director of the Worcester County Arts Council.
Students graduating from Worcester County high schools who plan to further their education in art fields can apply for the scholarship in January. The application deadline is April 15.
“Only Worcester County students who reside in Worcester County are eligible to apply,” Mullis added.

For three years, the arts council has held a silent auction open to the public in an exhibit format to raise funds for the scholarship program.
Last year, the arts council awarded $10,000 to local students, Mullis said.
“This year, of course with the pandemic, we had to be a little bit more creative, and that’s why we are offering online bidding for people, so they can view the artwork and bid from the comfort of their homes,” Mullis said.
There are about 25 pieces of artwork for sale, including paintings, scarves, blown glass, ceramics and jewelry. The items were donated by local artists, who are members of the Worcester County Arts Council gallery co-op.
“They are available for bidding, however all the pieces can be purchased at ‘buy now’ price at our gallery,” Mullis said.
Worcester County Arts Council gallery at 6 Jefferson St. in Berlin is open on weekends from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“This is such a great opportunity to support local nonprofits and for the great cause to support local arts students,” Mullis said.
She encourages people to view the original artwork for unique holiday gifts.
