(Nov. 23, 2017) Worcester County Developmental Center has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide.

The center’s fundraising goal this year is to raise money for the advancement of its Day Program. Occurring this year on Nov. 28, #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday to kick off the holiday giving season.

As the center’s Day Program continues to grow, it has identified a crucial need to ensure the most promising future possible for their clients: integrate them into the community.

With community integration comes challenges, therefore they want to update their facility in order to prepare their clients for community integration. The three areas they want to raise money for are community outings, classroom enhancement, and bringing in local specialists.
