Salt Water Media in Berlin will begin offering beginning and intermediate classes on using Apple iPads and iPhones this month. The first beginner class is scheduled for Oct. 19 from 6-8 p.m. The first intermediate class is set for Nov. 4 from 10 a.m. until noon. Preregistration is required. Classes are two hours long and cost $40 per person with a maximum of 10 students per class. Salt Water co-owner Patty Gregorio said students are encouraged to bring their devices, as long as they’re running the latest version of the operating system, or iOS. “They don’t have to be up to [iOS]11, but at least to 10,” she said. “We’ve been teaching classes at the Bayside Institute and I had someone show up one day with iOS 8 … and they couldn’t understand why what I was telling them wasn’t working.” Gregorio said students should also know their Apple ID and password. “We’ll go through the very basics, so someone with a new device right out the box knows how to use it,” she said. “The intermediate class will be taking what we learned during the first class and building on it. If people feel confident using their iPad, they can just sign up for the intermediate class. “We’ve had demand for this for four years and we’re finally getting around to doing it,” Gregorio added.
