Pop’s Kitchen to open on Gay Street

By Ally Lanasa, Staff Writer

Quick-service restaurant to offer pizza, salads and subs for outdoor dining, carryout

(June 25, 2020) Robert and Kelli Beck received permission from the Berlin Town Council Monday night to place four picnic tables and a small bike rack on the front patio area of their Pop’s Kitchen restaurant on 15 Gay Street.

Pop’s Kitchen is expected to open later this summer if the equipment is delivered within the two next weeks, Kelli Beck said.

In addition to the 29-inch tall outdoor tables made from composite material, the restaurant expected to have limited inside dining, she said. However, there will be no wait staff, as the restaurant is designed for quick service, mainly for takeout.

Currently, with coronavirus restrictions in effect, the Becks plan to stick with outdoor dining or limit the capacity for inside.

Pop’s Kitchen will be open for lunch and dinner and the menu will feature salads, soups, subs and pizzas.

“Staffing is an issue that I think a lot of people have experienced the impact of,” Kelli Beck said.

The restaurant’s hours will be determined after staff is hired and demand in downtown Berlin is evaluated.
