Ocean Pines rec. to offer basketball clinics for youth

OCEAN PINES–Young basketball players can learn more about the game and how to play it at two youth basketball clinics to be offered by the Ocean Pines Recreation & Parks Department beginning Oct. 11 at the Ocean Pines Community Center.
Led by Ocean Pines recreation staff, these clinics are created for both beginners and experienced players.
Little Shooters, for children ages 4-6, offers an introduction to the basics of basketball. Participants will learn dribbling, passing and shooting as well as the basic rules of the game in a fun, non-competitive environment.
This program will be held on Saturdays from 9-10 a.m., with a second session scheduled to begin on Jan. 10. The cost for six classes is $40 for Ocean Pines residents and $50 for nonresidents.
Older children ages 7-14 will enjoy Hoopsters, which is designed to help beginners and advanced players improve their skills. Participants will learn the fundamentals of dribbling, passing and shooting as well as game strategy and rules.
Each session will include skills and drills, progressing to scrimmage games. This program will be held from 10-11 a.m., with a second session scheduled to begin on Jan. 10. The cost for six classes is $40 for Ocean Pines residents and $50 for nonresidents.
These programs are open to public and registration is required. Participants are asked to dress in comfortable clothing and wear athletic shoes.
