Ocean Pines Chamber moves expo outdoors to park

By Greg Ellison

(Aug. 27, 2020) The Ocean Pines Chamber of Commerce will hold its inaugural Community Expo, originally slated for April, on Sept. 12 in White Horse Park from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Executive Director Kerrie Bunting said after pushing back the event date in April after the covid-19 outbreak, the Community Expo was relocated from the Ocean Pines Community Center to an outdoor setting in adjacent White Horse Park.

“The move is exciting, as it allows more space for exhibitors and the flow between the expo and the marketplace will expose so many businesses to potentially new customers,” she said.

Bunting said the expo will also coincide with the weekly Ocean Pines Farmers and Artisan Market held on Saturdays in White Horse Park.

“It will allow a perfect flow between the weekly farmers market and expo,” she said.

Bunting said the new expo is a variation of the chamber’s annual business expo, which is intended to be more consumer-focused.

The expo is free to attend with a rain date scheduled for Sept. 19 in the event of inclement weather.

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with area service providers, businesses and nonprofits.

“We have around 50 exhibitors across all industries, including elected officials and government agencies,” she said.

Included among the dozens of vendors are businesses from the financial, health, beauty, home care, plumbing, insurance, and home improvements industries, as well as a host of nonprofit agencies.

Bunting said despite the extensive list of participants, exhibitor space is still available.
