Jay Donald Connor

BERLIN — Jay Donald Connor, age 89, passed away peacefully, wrapped in the arms of his daughter, on Saturday, August 6.  He is survived by his wife of 36 years Gretchen Connor.

Born in Baltimore on April 5, 1922 he was the middle child of the late William and Eleanor Connor. He was educated in Baltimore at St. Paul’s School, Loyola University Maryland and University of Baltimore School of Law. Together with his law partner, C. Arthur Eby, they formed Colonial Title Company in Towson. 

As a child Donald spent his summers on the Magothy River at his family summer home, where he developed his love of the water. He had sailboats from a young age and continued sailing through his adult life. He spent many happy hours on his sailboats and held a Coast Guard Pilot’s Licence. 

Donald move to Ocean Pines in the early 1990s and was a member of the Community Church at Ocean Pines.

Along with his wife he is survived by his son, Jay and his wife Bonnie; daughter, Margy; step-son, James; 4 grandsons; several nieces and nephews; and a dear niece Nancy Primeaux and her family of Dallas, Tx; sister, Eleanor Ricards and her husband Harold of Houston, Tx; and sister-in-law, Nan Connor of Bel Air.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, August 13 at the Community Church at Ocean Pines, 11227 Racetrack Rd., Berlin, MD 21811. Rev. Bill Sterling and Rev. Jay Hurley will be officiating. Interment will be private. Memorial donations may be made in Donald’s name to Loyola University Maryland, Evergreen Fund, 4501 N. Charles St, Baltimore, MD 21210 or Coastal Hospice, PO Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802-1733. Arrangements are being handled by the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.
