Hogs for Heroes ride through OC to support police

Group’s 2020 Roar at the Shore event held Saturday

(June 25, 2020) Hoping to highlight support for law enforcement, regional members of Hogs and Heroes are staging the 2020 Roar at the Shore event this Saturday in Ocean City.

Hogs and Heroes Foundation Maryland Chapter 8 President Steve Hannon said riders would convene at the Berlin Wal-Mart on Ocean Gateway at 10 a.m. Saturday, with kick stands up at 11 a.m. to begin the short journey to Ocean City.

The event is intended to raise funds for the MD C.O.P.S. program that aids surviving family members of fallen officers.

Hannon said with the annual police convention in Ocean City cancelled this year because of coronavirus concerns, chapter members developed a plan to pay tribute to fallen officers in Maryland.

“The chapter got together to suggest something else and hatched the idea for a motorcycle run,” he said.

Hannon said riders are asked to donate $5 to support the MD C.O.P.S. program, with cars welcome to join and encouraged to decorate their vehicles to reflect support for the Blue.

“With all the turbulence going on, we want our police to know we stand together to support them,” he said.
