First and only OPA candidate forum tonight

By Josh Davis, Assistant Editor

(June 28, 2018) “This rollercoaster ride is over the top and starting the first drop,” Ocean Pines Elections Committee Chairman Steve Habeger said on Monday. “We’re picking up speed as we go.”

The committee will host the first – and only – candidate forum on Wednesday.

Six candidates are expected to participate and one, Esther Diller, will provide an introductory and closing statement, as well as answers to several questions, in a series of video clips, Habeger said.

The committee canceled its plans for a second forum on July 21. The forum was postponed from an earlier date because no venue could be found and then canceled by the committee on Monday because the later date did not comply with Resolution M-06, governing elections, Habeger said.

Forum questions were developed by the committee and sent to candidates in advance.

The forum is scheduled to be held at 7 p.m. in the upstairs banquet space at the Ocean Pines Yacht Club and streamed online.
