With its 19th Century charm, downtown Berlin has earned its third recognition this year after receiving the Travelers’ Choice Award from TripAdvisor.

(Aug. 27, 2020) Main Street Berlin recently won the 2020 Travelers’ Choice Award from TripAdvisor, which spotlights international destinations, attractions, restaurants, experiences and airlines based on reviews, ratings and saves that travelers share as part of the Best of the Best awards every year.

The Travelers’ Choice Award is the third award the town has won this year, following recognition from Oprah magazine and USA Today.

Since 2012, Berlin, which has been named the coolest small town in America, has received 30 awards for its beauty and businesses.

“We’re very fortunate because many small towns that are anywhere near our size are probably bursting with pride if they have one or two [awards]. We have 30, and that’s only in the recent years,” Mayor Gee Williams said.

With the historic charm and a variety of quality boutiques, dining establishments and antique stores, Berlin thrives as an attraction for guests year-round.

In addition, visitors take advantage of the Berlin Farmers Market from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sundays through September as well as 2nd Fridays every month when shops stay open late, musicians perform live on Commerce Street and Sisters, 113 N. Main Street, hosts wine tastings.

“While we’re a very nice place to live, we’re also a very nice place to visit,” Williams said.

He also emphasized the importance of visitors feeling that Berlin is a home away from home.
