(July 25, 2019) Calling all bakers: culinary masters and novices alike can register to participate in a pie- baking contest set for next Saturday during the Berlin Peach Festival.

The 11th annual event will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the lawn of the Calvin B. Taylor House Museum on 208 N. Main St. in downtown Berlin.

Museum Curator Susan Taylor said the contest will be capped at 12 bakers. Taylor added that prospective contestants will have until Aug. 2 to register, and can call the museum at 410-641-1019 to do so.

“It’s a good opportunity to showcase your baking abilities,” Taylor said.

Taylor also said three judges will be responsible for selecting the winner of the festival’s pie baking contest.

Moreover, Melissa Reid, president of the museum’s board of directors, said participants need to bring a copy of the recipe and drop off their pies around 10 a.m. on the day of the festival.

Additionally, the festival allocated time for pie-eating contests for chil- dren and adults.

Festivalgoers can also take advan- tage of live music, games and crafts from local vendors. Tours of the mu- seum also will be available.

“It’s a fun time for everybody,” Taylor said.
