Berlin meetings will be open to public at 50 percent capacity

(Sept. 10, 2020) The Town of Berlin announced last Friday that limited public attendance will be permitted at mayor and council, board and commission meetings beginning on Sept. 14.

The announcement comes after Gov. Larry Hogan’s most recent executive orders regarding the covid-19 pandemic that state that up to 50 percent capacity is allowed for indoor venues, with appropriate social distancing and face coverings for all attendees.

“In addition to town officials and staff, up to 16 seats will be available to presenters, members of the public and the press,” said Deputy Town Administrator Mary Bohlen. Bohlen added that doors will be opened 15 minutes before the designated start time of the meeting and seating will be first-come, first-served.

At the start of the meeting, or when capacity has been reached, the doors will be locked to entry from the outside.

Until full capacity is restored, questions and comments pertaining to the meeting agenda will continue to be accepted until noon the day of the meeting and the town will continue to broadcast meetings live via Facebook.
