Alice Vanderslice Lees

OCEAN CITY — Alice Vanderslice Lees, age 94, died Tuesday, June 28, at the Berlin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Coatesville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Myrtle Root Vanderslice. She was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Lees. She is survived by her daughter, Emily Peachey, of Stafford, Va. Her son, William F. Lees Jr., preceded her in death in 1992.

There are four grandchildren; Michele Snyder, Karen Berg, Michael Peachey and Andrew Peachey; and six great-grandchildren, Amanda Conrad, Douglas Conrad, Katy Peachey, Sarabeth Peachey, Corrina Peachey and Bella Peachey; numerous nieces and nephews; and daughter-in-law Elisa Lees of Downingtown, Pa.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Raymond Vanderslice and sister, Emily Turansky. 

Lees was a graduate of Coatesville High School class of 1935 and graduate of Coatesville Hospital School of Nursing class of 1938. She had worked as a registered nurse throughout her career. She had been a member of the Brandywine Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary in Coatesville and was a former member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Parkesburg.

She was a member of the Red Hats Society of Ocean City and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ocean City. A memorial service will be held noon, Sunday, July17 at the First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Alex Ayers will officiate. Interment will be at a later date in Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ocean City First Presbyterian Church, 13th Street and Philadelphia Ave., Ocean City, MD 21842 or to a charity of your choice. Arrangements are in the care of the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.
