Activities planned for Second Friday Art Stroll

BERLIN—The Berlin
Coffee House will host an opening party for its month-long exhibit “The Birds” during
the Oct. 11 Second Friday Art Stroll, from 5-8 p.m.

The exhibit
will include a group of 16 artists showing birds of all
kinds in all types of media, including photography, painting, drawing and
fiber. The artists are Marc Emond, Matt Dove, Adam Weir, Stephanie Karns, Jason
Frank, Jaime Delzel and Mark Huey, all from Ocean City; Natalee DeHart, Ami
Reist, Nina Tomaselli and Patti Backer, from Berlin; Jennifer Drake, from
Delaware; Kathy Hayes, of New York; and Christopher Reynolds, Kevin Herdeman
and Jodi Hoover, from Baltimore. 

Businesses
along downtown Main Street will have music, food and artists, just as the town
prepares to begin its upcoming holiday seasons, with the Berlin Christmas
Parade slated for Dec. 5.

Baked Desserts Café & Gallery: Singer Sophia Tomaselli will perform. Works by
artists Matt Dove and Stephanie Karn will be in the gallery. Dove works in acrylic,
spray paint , polyurethane and paint pen on panel and will show his series
highlighting some of the predatory birds native to the Eastern Shore of
Maryland. Karn works in acrylic and spray paint on paper and frames her pieces with
original tongue and groove yellow pine flooring from Berlin’s Raines Reef
Restaurant.

Bruder Hill: Featured will be an exhibit by Kimberly
Tucker Photography. Definitely worth leaving the main thoroughfare to stop by
to see.

Bungalow Love: Artist, photographer and writer Alex
Ottenstein will raffle off an original poster of Bob Marley to benefit Pink
Ribbon Pin Ups.

The Church Mouse: The Church Mouse will sell Berlin Main
Street canvas bags, as a fundraiser for the town’s Victorian Christmas
decoration. In addition, all store proceeds from Friday’s sales will go towards
the breast cancer patient support organization Women Supporting Women.

The Globe: An opening reception for Favorite Local Artist winners Robert
& Diane Heron will be from 5-8 p.m. Their prize was a solo show in the
Balcony Art Gallery & Lounge, where their
exhibitVenice and more….” will
feature photography, paintings and
digital art.

Harmony Wellness Spa: Artist Sheryl Sallow will be at the spa giving
a demo of her mixed media creations. She will also exhibit artwork that will be
available for sale.

JJ Fish Studio & Fine Crafts Gallery: This gallery will feature the pottery works
of Robert Johnson and Sarah Halcott, of Amused Studios in Salisbury, beginning
at 5 p.m. The pottery is crafted to be functional, dishwasher and microwave
safe as well as beautiful.

OMH Oh My Hair: "The Art of Curling Hair" will showcase
different types of curling irons that are available and the different curls users
can achieve, such as zig zags and ribbon curls. Visitors can stop by and get
their hair curled or just watch. The irons will also be for sale in the salon.

The Nest: The Nest will host an
exhibit by oil painting and watercolor artist Niv Kitzig.

Refresh Media: Refresh will host an exhibit of the work of
its intern and artist Erik White, who is an apprentice of Henry Fine Art’s
Patrick Henry. DJ Adub, will provide electronic funk
music.

Victorian Charm: Salisbury native and Salisbury
University-trained artist Jim Blankenship will show his lamp worked
borosilicate glass (Pyrex) creations. His collection will include, pendants,
earrings and assorted other jewelry, and drink stirrers and wine stoppers.

Worcester County Arts Council:  Works
by local “pulp artist” Kenny Bliss will be featured in the gallery throughout
October. Stop by for a “Meet the Artist” reception from 5-8 p.m. Bliss uses
diverse medias such as painting with pulp, sculpting clay and carving masterful
pumpkins to invent unique handmade stationary and paintings. A pumpkin hand carved
by Bliss will be auctioned off on to benefit various programs of the Arts
Council.

Zenna Wellness: The work of painter Logan Wiley will be on
display.

Independent Artists: Eric
Budd
will bring his decoys and taxidermy from Facebook to Main Street; Kaitlin Sowa will display her butterfly
taxidermy, offering nature in suspended animation; Kelly Brown will show and sell her paintings; and John Colley will exhibit his “fairy”
houses built from natural elements and offer visitors a chance to build their
own “fairy” houses.
