Anne C. “Nancy” Hall

SELBYVILLE–Anne C. “Nancy” Hall, age 81, of Selbyville and formerly of Baltimore and Ocean City, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2013 at home. Mrs. Hall was born in Baltimore and was the daughter of the late Julian Lee Henry and Mary Carroll (Harris) Fisher.     She was a homemaker and a member of St. Luke Catholic Church in Ocean City.   She is survived by three sons, William B. Hall III of Fenwick Island, Scott P. Hall of Ocean City and Julian H.L. Hall of Selbyville; a daughter, Carroll L. Ward of Dayton, Va.; a sister, Carolyn Gunning of Yardley, Pa.; seven grandchildren, Will, Corey, Russell and Carrie Hall and Brooks and Sarah Ward and Scott Gattuso and one great-granddaughter, Peyton Gattuso. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Barnes Hall Jr., in 2010. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday Dec. 27, 2013 at 11a.m. at St. Luke Catholic Church in Ocean City. Kennard Lee Toomey

WILLARDS– Kennard Lee Toomey, 72, of Willards, went home to the Lord on Dec. 20, 2013.  Born on May 19, 1941 in Ocean View, Del., he was the son of the late Thomas A. Toomey and Ethel Downs Toomey.  He retired from the Town of Ocean City after 30 years.   Kennard enjoyed hunting, gardening, working and fixing cars, especially his 1955 Ford. He also enjoyed spending time in Chincoteague, and loved spending time with all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.   He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Ethel Toomey; sister Ethel Toomey Morgan; brothers Robert, Walter, Danny and Freddy Toomey.   He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ida Pearl Baker Toomey, of Willards.  Also surviving is a son, Albert Toomey, and wife Vivian; daughter’s Ginger Hall and husband, Alan; and Tammy Parker and husband, Eric; grandchildren, Michelle Toomey and partner Brian Brown; Jennifer Harrison and husband Daryl; Brandy Toomey and partner David Mes...

Michael Joseph “Sean” Heubeck

BALTIMORE–Michael Joseph “Sean” Heubeck, beloved son of Stasia Heubeck of Ocean Pines, and the late Richard L. Heubeck, died in Baltimore after a long illness. He was born in Baltimore, enlisted in the Marines, then became an ironworker and a chef. After the “September 11 Attacks,” he was proud to be one of the ironworkers who disassembled the fallen World Trade Center buildings. He is survived by his daughter, Stacey L. Heubeck of Street, Md., his brothers, John C. Heubeck of Los Angeles, Ca. and Thomas V. Heubeck of Baldwin, Md. On Jan. 4, 2014, at 10 a.m., there will be a funeral Mass at St. John Neumann Catholic Church on Beauchamp Road in Ocean Pines. Albert Edward McClay BERLIN–Albert Edward McClay, 75, of Berlin, passed away on Friday, Dec. 6, 2013 at his residence.  Born in Wilmington, Del., he was the son of the late Albert G. McClay and Kathryn Noack McClay. “Eddie” worked for the District of Columbia as a traffic engineer for 30 years, retiring in 1989.   He was a member of the Friendship United Methodist Church and also the Methodist Men. He enjoyed fishing, camping and square dancing and was an avid Redskins and Orioles fan. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Carole Francine Hebb McClay; three children, George Lentz of Titusville, Fla., Gregory Lentz and his wife, Cassie of Poolesville, Md. and Rebecca Lentz of Berlin; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a twin sister, Carole Meyer and her husband, John of Edgewater, Md. Billy Elwood Nicholson

SNOW HILL–Billy Elwood Nicholson, 84, died Dec. 6, 2013 at his home in Snow Hill. He was born Dec. 17, 1928 in Basket Switch, Md. to the late Ernest Levi and Eliza Lank Nicholson and was raised in Berlin.   Billy married Mary J. Moody Nicholson on Oct. 7, 1966; they have one son, the Rev. Dr. Isaac William “Ike” Nicholson.   After serving in the U.S. Army from 1951-56, he was employed as a master electrician with IBEW Local 1835 and ultimately Local 24, with which he was a 50-year member. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 67 and Improved Order of Red Men, Tony Tank Tribe 149 in Fruitland and White Eagle Tribe 110 in Berlin, where he was a Past Sachem. Over the past several years, he enjoyed the MAC Center Morning Coffee Club in Snow Hill. OCEAN PINES– Bridget Ann Meyer, age 62, died on Wednesday Dec. 11, 2013 at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin.   Born in Cheverly, Md., she was the daughter of the late Ralph F. DeSarno and Julia Frances Rawlings DeSarno.   She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Gary E. Meyer. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Daniel DeSarno and Johnny DeSarno. Also surviving is a daughter, Angelique Waldron and her husband, Dana, of Olney; three brothers, Ralph DeSarno and his wife, Evelyn, of Harrisonburg, Va., Vincent DeSarno and his wife, Peggy, of Staunton, Va., and Dominic DeSarno and his wife, Linda, of White Plains, Md., a sister Rose DeSarno of South Carolina and one grandchild, Keith Waldron, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Gerald Allen Elkins OCEAN PINES–Gerald Allen Elkins, 65, died on Nov. 28, 2013 after a short illness. Born in Richlands, Va., he was the son of the late Hazel Owens Elkins and Winfred Elkins. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Amy Susan Hasson; three sons, Anthony John Elkins and his wife, Kristy, Daniel Carl Elkins  and his wife, Brooke, and Mitchell Shanahan Elkins; and one daughter, Megan Elizabeth Elkins. He was beloved “Grandpa Beach” to three grandchildren: Dillon Connor Elkins, Adam Daniel Elkins and Adriana Jane Elkins, and is survived by two siblings, Wayne Mitchell Elkins, and his wife, Gale, and Patricia Gail Elmos and her husband, Peter, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. Kasey Ann Crandall OCEAN PINES–Kasey Ann Crandall, 54, passed away suddenly in her home on Dec. 6, 2013. Kasey was born in California and came to the East Coast with her family. She attended Southern High School in Anne Arundel County and Towson University. As part of the restaurant and hospitality industries, she worked on both the East and West coasts. She spent a decade in San Diego, Ca. and another decade in the Ocean Pines area making people smile and laugh. Most recently she was the beloved bartender at Denovo’s Trattoria.   Kasey’s spirit and laughter was contagious to all she met. She loved the outdoors, boating, fishing, and to be surrounded by lots of people and, of course, loud rock and roll. Kasey is survived by her mother, Mary Jean Crandall, of Ocean Pines. Angela Raso Bollas OCEAN CITY–Angela Raso Bollas, age 92, of Ocean City, died on Wed. Dec. 3, 2013 at Brandywine Assisted Living in Selbyville, Del. Born in Calabria, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Anthony Raso and Maria Zangary Raso. She was preceded in death by her husband Gus Bollas. OCEAN PINES–Robert L. “Bob” Chapman, age 89, of Ocean Pines died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013 at Berlin Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. He was born in New York, N.Y. and was the son of the late Edward and Joyce (Parmelle) Chapman.     He had been a sales executive for International Paper. He was a member of Community Church at Ocean Pines, a former member of the Ocean Pines Kiwanis and the Ocean Pines Power Squadron. He had been an avid hunter and fisherman.   He is survived by his wife, Jeannine S. Chapman of Ocean Pines; two sons, Robert Lee Chapman Jr. and his wife Barbara of Bloomington, Ind., and John J.
