Jean Welliver Patton

Jean Welliver Patton Jean Welliver Patton “Judy,” 78, of Berlin, died peacefully Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2015, surrounded by family.   Born in Flushing, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Allan J. Welliver and Jean Murray Welliver. Judy grew up in Wayne, Pa. and graduated from Radnor High School in Radnor, Pa. She later graduated from Endicott Junior College in Beverly, Mass. She worked as a secretary at Wyeth Laboratories where she met her future husband, Thomas J. Patton (deceased). She earned a degree for childhood education from Harcum College and taught as an assistant nursery school teacher at St. David’s Nursery School. She is survived by her daughters, Catherine Anne Patton and husband, Stephen Farr, Elizabeth P. Mulholland and husband, Andrew Spillard, of Wayne, Pa.; sister, Joan C. Welliver of West Chester, Pa.; grandchildren, Savanna J. Hastings of Berlin and Christina L. Mulholland and Michael M. Mulholland of Wayne, Pa. She is survived by her devoted dog, Emma. Judy w...

Robert “Bob” Hopkins Boyles

Willards Robert “Bob” Hopkins Boyles, age 71, died Thursday evening, Sept. 3, 2015, while in respite care at Salisbury Rehabilitation and Nursing Center from complications relating to previous stomach cancer.   Bob was born on Nov. 20, 1943, to the late James R. and Clarinda Catherine Boyles of Sunset Beach Pasadena, Md.    Bob grew to have many interests, one of them being music. In his senior year (‘61) at Glen Burnie High School, he was selected as drum major for the marching band. Bob excelled at the trumpet and played with the Anne Arundel County Junior Symphony. He loved boating and boat racing and crewed in many races and traveled as far as Canada to race.   Bob was drafted into the Army and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam war. Bob eventually decided that he wanted to move to Ocean City, where he had vacationed as a young boy, to raise his young family. So, in 1983, he and his family moved permanently to Ocean City. Bishopville Kathryn L. Collins, 93, of Bishopville died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2015 at home. She was born in Roxana, Del. and was the daughter of the late James and Anna (Wilgus) Leary. She was a member of Wilson United Methodist Church in Bishopville, where she sang in the church choir for many years. She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Emerson S. Collins of Bishopville; three sons, Michael E. Collins and wife, Shirley, of Snow Hill; David J. Collins and wife, Connie, of Bishopville and Jeffrey R. Collins and wife, Kathy, of Selbyville; a daughter, Barbara C. Whaleyville David John Schor, 59, died on Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. Born in Salisbury, he was the son of the late Harold A Schor, Sr., and Vivian Tilghman Schor Reimann, and stepfather, the late Bill Reimann. He was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Prettyman Schor, earlier this year. He is survived by his step-daughter, Jessica Taylor and her husband, Jason, of Girdletree, and four step-grandchildren, Jacob, Josh, Jace and Jenna. Also surviving is a brother, Samuel Schor, of Ocean City, and two sisters, Rachel Wilson of Virginia, Debbie Jones and her husband, Tom, of Whaleyville, and several nieces and nephews. Ocean Pines The pearly gates were thrust open on 1:15 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015, as St. Peter greeted John Joseph Sparzak with a firm handshake and a hug. In the background, a jazz band could be heard playing “Oh When the Saints Come Marching In,” as John always wanted when this day came. We recognize how difficult the past four months have been for John, and ever the man of great strength, he remained strong until he was called to heaven to be reunited with his sister, Cynthia, and his mother and father. What we can imagine is that today there is a patio in heaven with a table covered in newspaper and a bushel of crabs laid out for him to enjoy with his sister and brother-in-law, Johnny. Berlin Daniel Gutshall, 54, of Berlin, died unexpectedly Tuesday evening, Aug. 25, 2015. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Kimberly Gutshall. Born in Chambersburg, Pa., he was the son of Patricia Gutshall. He is survived by two brothers, Darren Gutshall and his wife, Dorothy, of Carlisle, Pa. and Derik Gutshall and his wife, Kimberly, of Chambersburg, Pa; mother-in-law, Janet Nehf of Shippensburg, Pa., a sister-in-law, Vicki Carl, of Boiling Springs, Pa. and a brother-in-law, William Nehf and his wife, Angie, of Chambersburg, Pa. He is also survived by two nephews and two nieces. Daniel attended Drexel University in Philadelphia, then left to pursue work in the family business in Chambersburg. He worked in corporate management roles in Pennsylvania before a permanent move to the Ocean City area. He found his passion in working near the water and in the construction building industry. Ocean Pines Luz Minerva Haller, 83, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. Born in Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the later Lucas and Margo Nazario. She is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Herbert Glenn Haller, and children, Herb Haller Jr. and his wife, Carol, Evelyn Marie Collins and her husband, Kevin, Luz Denise Harting and her husband, Paul, and Karl Haller and his wife, Kimberly. There are four grandchildren, Luz Nicole White and her husband, Jeff, Lucas Haller, Paul Harting Jr. and Heather Collins, one great-grandchild and two great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving, are her cousins, Lucy and Charlie of Puerto Rico. Mrs. Haller attended elementary and high school in Puerto Rico, and was awarded a full scholarship to Mount St. Joseph’s in Cincinnati, Ohio where she graduated in 1955. James D. Patrick, Jr., age 80, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at Salisbury Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born in West Palm Beach, Fla., he was the son of the late James D. Patrick, Sr., and Florence Honeywell. He is survived by his wife, Eileen Patrick of Ocean Pines. He is also survived by his children, James D. Patrick of Singapore, Jacqueline Eastwick of New York, Colleen Ryan and her husband, Andrew of Virginia, and Kevin D. Patrick of New York.  Also surviving are his sisters, Yvonne Thornton and her husband, Robert of Florida, and Veldean Roberts of Florida. There are also six grandchildren and nephew. Mr. Patrick worked his entire life in the engineering industry, first for the NASA space missions in the 1960s in Florida before moving to the Washington, D.C. area to work in the defense industry. Howard Louis Koehler, age 94, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2015 at Chesapeake Manor in Willards, Md. Born in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Rudolph and Mildred Baer Koehler. He is survived by his beloved wife Elsie Ott Koehler, and children, Martin Koehler of California, Robert Koehler and his wife, Lynda of Berlin, Christine McGillien and her husband, James of Berlin and Barbara Johnson and her husband, William of Tampa, Fla. There are five grandchildren, Korena, Liane, Richard, Melissa and Molly. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Naomi Koehler of Baltimore, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Keebler Koehler in 1987, and a brother, Kenneth Koehler.
