Two local artists highlight August exhibit

BERLIN–The Worcester County Arts Council August exhibit highlights two local artists, watercolorist Ursula McMahon and handcrafted jewelry designer, Joan Smith.
A reception to meet the artists, which is free and open to the public, will be held Friday, Aug. 8, from 5–8 pm at the Arts Council Gallery.
McMahon is primarily painting in watercolors, but she also likes to experiment with pastels and mixed media. She says that her painting constantly “evolves and changes.” She starts with an inspiration, true life or a photograph, and then makes changes throughout the process.
“The more you paint and cultivate your love of art, it will help you express your creative voice,” she said.
Smith creates uniquely handcrafted, contemporary in style jewelry, using traditional silversmith techniques.
Many of her designs incorporate sterling silver, cooper, and sea glass. Creating timeless art jewelry is her passion.
Featured artists exhibit will be on display until Aug. 30.
