WHALEYVILLE
– Vintage cars and bikes will be joined by a pin-up model contest and a thrill
show at this year’s Rods & Rockers Fall Car Show at Oasis Bar ‘n’ Grill on
Saturday, Oct. 6.

"This
show is open to all 1975s and older hot rods, classics, antiques, rat rods,
deadbeaters and vintage bikes," event organizer Skip McGary said.

Most
car and bike participants will arrive by 2 p.m. and give the crowd at the
fourth annual event an opportunity to view some unique rides. The event
concludes at 6 p.m.

Admission
is free and food and drink from Oasis Bar ‘n’ Grill will be available on site.

Registration
begins with the event’s opening at 11 a.m. and the cost is $10.

That
money will be put into a pool of all registered vehicles and the winnings of
this year’s contest will be split between the top three vintage cruisers voted
as best in show.

Winners
will earn handcrafted trophies and gift certificates along with the cash prize.

Since
the show normally brings about 75 cruisers, the split pot awarded could be
upwards to $750.

Along
with the vehicle competition, the event’s now annual pin-up model contest will
be featured as well, in which participants will wear their best hot rod outfit
in hopes of being this year’s Miss Rods & Rockers.

"These
are some of the hottest barn-burning beauties competing this year," McGary
said.

This
year, Baltimore thrill seekers Christopher Scarborough and Dangerous D will
provide entertainment throughout the day with their “Scarred and Dangerous
Thrill Show.”

"The
… world record holders will demonstrate stunts you won’t see anywhere else in
the world," the entertainers said on their Facebook page.

In
addition to the cars and pin-up competition, Kid David & the Bullets will
play rockabilly, surf and rock n’ roll.

The
event was initially held at Steer Inn Tavern off Route 589, but since its
closing earlier this year, McGary, former co-owner of the establishment, moved
the car show to its new home at Oasis Bar ‘n’ Grill on Old Ocean City Road.
