Ranck appointed deputy director of Worcester County Library

WORCESTER COUNTY- The Worcester County Library
Trustees announce the appointment of Jennifer Ranck as deputy director of the
Worcester County Library. Ranck is the first person to serve in this position,
and she will also act as the Ocean City Branch library manager.

“We are fortunate to have
Jennifer take this important administrative position,” Library Board President
Ron Cascio said. “She brings considerable talent, experience and energy to this
challenging new assignment.”

Prior to joining Worcester
County as deputy director, Ranck served since 2009 as director of the Somerset
County Library System, where she led an effort to plan and design a new library
building in Crisfield. Before leading in that capacity, she worked as the
training coordinator at the Eastern Shore Regional Library, an agency that
serves all eight county public libraries on the Eastern Shore. However, she
actually began her local career in library service working for Worcester
County. From 2005-2006, Ranck served as a library associate at the Ocean Pines
branch library.

Ranck graduated from Stephen
Decatur High School before going on to earn her bachelor’s degree from Elmira
College, and her master’s degree in Library and Information Science from the
University of Pittsburgh.

“In her dual role as the deputy
director and a branch manager, Jennifer will provide leadership in both direct
public service and the broader, strategic efforts of the library system,”
Library Director Mark Thomas said. “Jennifer is already recognized as a leader
in Maryland’s public library community, and she will continue to play a strong
and growing role in the Eastern Shore region and across the state.”
