(June 25, 2015) The Board of Trustees of the Worcester County Library has announced that Library Director Mark Thomas will retire on June 19.
The Board has appointed Jennifer Ranck as acting director for the library system, beginning June 20.
Ranck, the library’s deputy director since August 2013, also manages the Ocean City Branch library, a role she will give up with the onset of her new position.
She directed the Somerset County Library System from 2009 to 2013 and before that was the training coordinator for the Eastern Shore Regional Library, based in Salisbury.
A graduate of Stephen Decatur High School, Ranck earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at Elmira College and a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science at the University of Pittsburgh.
Thomas has served as library director since 2004. He is a resident of Berlin, where he and his wife will remain after he retires.
