AGH hosts Fall Golf Classic, Sept. 28

(Sept. 21, 2017) The Atlantic General Hospital Foundation will host the Robert E. Warfield Memorial Fall Golf Classic to benefit Atlantic General Hospital, on Thursday, Sept. 28, at Ocean City Golf Club.
The tournament, formerly known as the AGH Fall Golf Classic, will celebrate its 24th year recognizing the generous commitment and loyal service of the late Robert E. Warfield, Sr., who dedicated his busy life to giving to others in service and in spirit.
He was an integral member of the AGH Fall Golf Classic Committee since he joined the Foundation’s Board of Directors in 1999. A founding member of the hospital’s Board of Trustees, former chairman of the Board of Directors for the AGH Foundation, he was also a member and served on the Board of Directors for the Ocean City Golf and Yacht Club and on the board for the Maryland Economic Development Corporation and Chesapeake Bay Restoration Fund.
For local golfers this tournament has become an annual tradition, with last year’s event raising $107,000 to expand health care services and programs for the community through the local hospital.
Registration begins at 11 a.m. with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. Player entry fee includes cart and greens fees, lunch and dinner as well as snacks and beverages on the course. Deluxe giveaways, course challenges and tournament awards are also included.
Lunch this year will be provided by Bad Monkey Bar & Grill and sponsored by Lighthouse Healthcare Advisors, LLC. Dough Roller Restaurants and Wye River Group are the dinner sponsors at the post-tournament banquet, and the reception is sponsored by Shenanigan’s Irish Pub & Grille and Atlantic General Hospital’s medical staff.
As in years past, each team can choose its course/format – Newport Bay/Best Ball or Seaside/Scramble. Team reservations, which is $1,000 per foursome, can be submitted via www.atlanticgeneral.org/golf and must be received by Friday, Sept. 22. Space is limited and earliest entries are accommodated first. Non-golfers can still join the fun—dinner and awards will begin at 5 p.m.
Players and guests can take part in a silent auction featuring baskets and unique prize items. The auction is open to the public and the winners will be announced at the post-tournament dinner and reception.
Title sponsor, The Carousel Group, has been a legacy sponsor for 18 consecutive years. Tournament co-chairs are Terry Wright and Greg Shockley.
For more information about the tournament or to become a sponsor, contact Joy Stokes, event coordinator, in the Foundation Office at 410-641-9671. Or, visit www.atlanticgeneral.org/golf or text WARFIELD to 41444.
