Arts on the River announces special events

SNOW HILL—Snow Hill’s First
Friday on Sept. 6 will celebrate Arts on the River with the first Eastern Shore
performance of the Brown Box Theatre’s Midsummer Night’s Dream. For the second
year Shakespeare at the Beach producer Kyler Taustin has opened the two-week
schedule in Snow Hill.

This free performance starts
at 7 p.m. in Sturgis Park. It will take place rain or shine. Bring chairs and
blankets.

Prior to the play there will
be plenty to see and do around downtown:

Hettie’s Books & Coffee
House will have Nick Haglich playing from 5-6 p.m. and 10 percent off
Shakespeare and poetry books.

Back to School is the theme
at the American Art Gallery with face painting for children and music by Cathy
Morgan.

Miss Patti Cake will give 10
percent off any purchase by schoolteachers and will register customers to win
cupcakes for a year in celebration of their upcoming first anniversary.

Trenique Armanoi Pet Spa
will offer new grooming customers 50 percent off appointments that day and 25
percent off pet accessories.

Bishop’s Stock is
introducing the work of Fred Sprock, a new Worcester County resident. Erick
Sahler will also be in the gallery where Italian wines will be offered.

The Sassy Girl Boutique will
be hosting the Fall Open House with 15 percent off storewide. Next door,
Jerry’s Custom Woodworking will be open, too.

Until 7:30 p.m., the Serenity
Shoppe will offer free 15-minute Reiki sessions.

Antiques on the River, the
Pocomoke River Canoe Company, Woven Dreams and Nancy Thompson Studio will be
welcoming visitors.

Due to the Shakespeare
performance many retail businesses will close at 7 p.m. The Emporium and
Harvest Moon offer carry out options if you want to take a picnic to the
performance. The Emporium will offer a prime rib special for dining in the
restaurant.

For music, there will be
Opposite Directions playing at Harvest Moon and WWTunes and Todd Crosby at the
Blue Dog.

First Friday starts at 5
p.m.
